First Festival of the season-Pomme de Terre Rendevous
below the dam at Pomme de Terre Lake.
May 1 & 2 Saturday and Sunday
As usual, we had rain and mud. It rained on us a little while setting up the town on Friday. Not enough to stop us just enough to require a rain coat. Some of the families decided to try camping out for the festival.
Not a good idea. Friday and Saturday night big storms blew through. Really blew through. Friday night Arkansas had eleven tornadoes. The folks in the hard camper faired very well, even taking in refugees from the tents. The folks in the tents had their spirits dampened and experienced some of those memories that stay with you forever. You laugh in telling the story for the rest of your life, but at the time you could very easily pass on the thrilling experience. In spite of the rain and mud we always enjoy ourselves at that festival even though the campers suffered a little more than usual.
We put on three new gun safety programs and three entirely new skits in a remodeled town each day with Cowboy Church on Sunday. We swore in a hundred kids and distributed to each of them Vigilante bandannas and certificates with the gun safety oath. Because of the rain, participation in the skits, and not being at the right place at the right time the photographer failed to get a lot of pictures that would have been priceless.
Sad to say, Jesse and Zee couldn't make it this year. Zee is just home from a little vacation in the hospital. We wish you both well and hope Zee is up and at 'em soon.
Sunday, late in the day, when everything was about over the sun popped out and the weather got real nice. Wouldn't you know it. Anyhow, we had a good time. Our audiences had a good time and the festival folks liked our show. SO WHEN THEY HAVE THEIR FESTIVAL NEXT YEAR we'll see you there.
GOLDEN YEARS
We dropped in for a visit Thursday afternoon on the 13th at the request of the staff at Golden Years nursing home in Harrisonville. They were having a cowboys and outlaws day so they invited us in to make an appearance. We put on a little half hour presentation, and had a good time performing and visiting with the residents and staff.
Next show Montrose, MO. May 29.
Clinton Olde Glory Days
July 2&3
Fantastic weekend! Three Main shows Friday and
a couple minor ones. Two Main shows Saturday and
a couple minor ones completed. The third main show was rained out.
In the course of the weekend We
put on an altered Element Show with Bumbling Bank Robbers.
The Orphan Train
The Road to Sedalia
Mail Order Bride
and three different gun safety programs.
We also had a float in the parade that took
Judges Choice.
Until the storm broke the weather was fine and the audiences large.
We presented 123 certificates, badges, and bandanas on Friday alone.
Our place in the shade on the courthouse lawn could not have been better.
We had some prospective new members stop by to talk to us
and some past members also stopped by to visit. The only fly in the ointment
was some very loud bands on two sides of us either playing or tuning up
while we were trying to say our lines. But such is life.
That was one of those hiccups that could have been
changed by a simple schedule change, but who can think of everything
100% of the time? The organizers of that festival did a bang up job and should be
highly commended for the results.
June 5 WARSAW JUBILEE DAYS
Weather was hot, but we had a nice shade tree to provide natural air conditioning. We did three shows
THE HANGING OF KATIE LYNN
ROAD TO SEDALIA
AND
MAIL ORDER BRIDE
The first two shows had fair-sized crowds. The last one, as usual was sparse, but we had a good time and so did our audiences. We had no accidents or injuries. The feather launcher worked great. They want us back for next year. What more can I say. We got hot and sweaty, shot off guns and nobody got arrested for real. A perfect day.
EAST LYNN
Saturday June 12
Nice Festival Plenty to do, but
Missouri Frog Strangler cut our program short.
we planned to do two shows. The first show was our only show.
The kids put on a "Play On Words". It was the first time for it.
It went over well despite small audience. Because it was the first time
It needs a little polish, but it was an indication of the talent
just waiting to explode.
The frog strangler arrived right at the end.
We all adjourned to the convenience store for pizza and
socializing while we waited for the rain to stop. It didn't, so we called it a day.

AUGUST 13 & 14
"Big Foot's Revenge"
at the Old Courthouse in Harrisonville,Mo.
In conjunction with the Cass County Historical Society &
The Harrisonville Chamber of Commerce's BBQ.
We put on two performances of
"Bigfoot's Revenge,"
appeared in the parade with our float
and put on a little shoot-out on stage
prior to the Saturday performance of
"Big Foot's Revenge."
The hot weather reduced the outside crowds,
but we had two good audiences inside the old courtroom
for the air-conditioned performances of the play.
All went well and we had good audience reactions.
